Taekwondo Classified as Category 2, Optional Sport at Commonwealth Games
Mr. Anthony Ferguson , president of the Caribbean Taekwondo Federation, makes a presentation on taekwondo for officials of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) at the Langham Hotel in London, the United Kingdom on June 7, 2010. The CGF recently informed the WTF of its decision to classify taekwondo as a category 2, optional sport, meaning that taekwondo can be put on the official program of the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the earliest. 2nd World Youth Taekwondo Camp
The 2nd World Youth Taekwondo Camp will be held in Seoul and Muju, Korea from July 26 to 31, 2010 for five nights and six days following the successful organization of the inaugural World Youth Taekwondo Camp in 2009.

Iran Wins Overall Men’s Title at 8th World Junior Championships in Mexico

Iran clinched the overall men’s title, followed by Korea, Turkey, Russia and Mexico.

Mexico, Turkey, U.S.A., China, Korea Win 1 gold Each on 2nd Day of World Junior Championships
Host Mexcio clinched one gold medal on the second day of the 8th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Tijuana, Mexico on March 7, 2010. The United States, China, Turkey and Korea also grabbed one gold each.
In the women´s -44kg weight division, the United States´ Cheyenne Lewis clinched the gold medal as she beat Korea´s Mi Hui Choi. The bronze went to Ukraine´s Romoidanova Iryna and Iran´s Shirjahani Maryam

8th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships Open in Tijuana, Mexico
The 8th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships kicked off in Tijuana, Mexico on March 6, 2010 for a four-day run, drawing a total of 696 athletes, including 300 females, from a record 97 countries.
The biennial event takes place at the Multi-Purpose Gymnasium at the High Performance Sports Center of Baja California.

32 Countries Grab Tickets to 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games
A total of 32 countries clinched at least one ticket to the 2010 Youth Olympic Games after two days of qualification tournament in Tijuana, Mexico, which wrapped up on March 4, 2010.
Host Mexico and Russia earned five tickets each to the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, while Korea and Germany grabbed four tickets to the Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

WTF Selects Host Countries for 3 Major Events at Council Meeting in Tijuana, Mexico
The World Taekwondo Federation selected the host sites for three of its major events in 2010 and 2011 at its Council meeting in Tijuana, Mexico on March 1, 2010.

2009 World Taekwondo Championships Kick off in Copenhagen, Denmark
The opening ceremony of the 2009 WTF World Taekwondo Championships is under way at the Ballerup Super Arena near Copenhagen, Denmark on Oct. 14, 2009. The Championships drew a total of 928 athletes from a record 142 countries.The 2007 Beijing World Taekwondo Championships attracted 865 athletes from 116 countries.

The draws for the matches will be made on October 13. The matches will begin at 9 o’clock in the morning local time. There will be a one hour lunch break mid-noon. Semi-finals and finals will begin in the evening. The medal ceremony will take place after the last match and will be finished at approximately 9 o’clock in the evening local time.
